President Andy Bell welcomed all members and visitors "Honorary Queenslander" Graeme Trainor (RC of Doncaster VIC), Ross Augustine (RC of Frankston Sunrise VIC), Jim Blackburn (guest of Andy Bell) and our newest member, Charles Thomasson. Charles, introduced by DG Darrell Brown, was duly inducted into membership of our club (see article above).
Wheelchair Trust Chairman Daryl Sanderson had a phone call from our Honorary Member George Keily who, on a recent cruise, spruked our Wheelchair Project to his fellow travelers on a cruise, and promptly received a donation of $40.00! On a sad note, however, Daryl reported the recent death of Leo Uniake (picture right), one of the very regular, long term volunteers at The Shed. Our condolences go to his family. It is worth reporting that it was Leo's wish to be buried wearing his Rotary T-Shirt!Youth Service Director Tania Laird is looking for candidates for the Youth Camps: Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) for 14 - 16 year olds, Rotary Youth Transition Seminar (RYTS) for 17 - 18 year olds and Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA), a project designed to create an awareness of the role of the United Nations in mediating international issues. Mario Fairlie reported that new pull-up banners had been made by Neil Thurlow, ready for the upcoming Polio Plus collection at the Runaway Bay Shopping Centre on the weekend, and Jo Gorman made the "final call" for the Melbourne Cup Luncheon at Seaworld.
Regrettably, our guest speaker, 'Wazza' Luff, was unable to make it due to illness (Ian Mayberry assured us that he is still planning to come along in the next few weeks), so the opportunity was grabbed to conduct some much needed discussion of club business. President Andy outlined the details of the largest fundraising project opportunity to be offered to the District: to be the Housekeepers at the Athletes Village during the Commonwealth Games 2018. It is deceptively simple: come up 
with teams of 5 people (total about 240 people per day), for 10 days, between the hours of 07:30 am to 3:00 pm... And guarantee that the people will indeed be there. Just a numbers game really, but what numbers! The potential earnings vastly surpass anything one can earn at a Sausage Sizzle, that's for sure! Deadline for the District to commit is 23th October.
