Gidday fellow Rotarians, Associate Members and Friends of Rotary.
Great to be back on the wonderful Gold Coast, even if it is colder and wetter the Melbourne.
From all reports, with the photos to prove it, a great time was had by all who attended the social outing organised by Adrian Crowe at the Teppanyaki Restaurant in Labrador.
Robby and I had an interesting time in Melbourne, which ranged from confronting (and winning) some squatters in Robby’s brother's vacant house, to finding the best restaurant we have ever been to (Ish in Gertrude St, Fitzroy).
I believe we had a good casual meeting last Wednesday with a good turnout of members, and also a reasonable turnout at drinks at Benowa Tavern on Thursday evening.
Almost every Saturday morning, along with PE Paul Seymour, Fundraiser Legend Ross Augustine, 'Onion King' Angus Miller and I catch up with Honorary Member Barry Lee. Barry was, until about ten years ago, a full member of our club. He was instrumental in us acquiring our project shed in Arundel and organised a number of very successful fundraising functions. These Saturday morning meetings are like mini Rotary meetings. Barry’s knowledge and, at times sage counsel, have been invaluable to me. I have tried many times to entice Barry back to be a full member of the club again, but sadly, personal events prevent him doing so.
The meetings with Barry are further proof that almost all Rotarians are cut from the same cloth and continue to live their lives as per Rotary ideals of The Four Way Test, and continue to adhere to the Rotary mantra of Service Sbove Self.
Board Meeting this Tuesday 3/06/25 morning 07:00 am, don’t be late.
