Following the presentation by DGN Lisa Hunt at last Wednesday’s meeting and the subsequent vote by Club members present, I confirm I have cast the vote on behalf of the Club as required.
Good to see engagement with the strategic planning process, with a number of committees holding meetings in preparation for the Club assembly on 28 September. Well done.
If you haven’t had the chance, visit the Club’s home page for updates about the latest work undertaken at the Project Shed.
Social meeting this Wednesday at the surf club and beverages at the Benowa Tavern on Thursday, kicking off at 4.30 pm.
For two years we had been looking for an alternative place that would accept our bicycle tyres, after the company that previously took them seemed to have gone AWOL... Last week, the trailer was loaded to the rim and the load went all the way to Ipswich, to Chip Tyre Pty Ltd. Good work, fellows!

Last Wednesday, DGN Lisa Hunt presented a concise outline of the proposed Regionalisation Pilot program for Zone 8 (Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific islands). Together with the UK, Zone 8 which includes our District 9640, has been chosen to participate in this program. Her presentation was strictly for the purpose of informing, not to influence. Some major points to mention:
The RI Board is asking us to vote on whether we approve participating in a pilot to develop, test, and evaluate a new regional approach to supporting and governing Rotary and Rotaract clubs and members in Zone 8 from July 2023 to July 2026.
If the pilot proceeds, it will occur whilst districts remain in place and in full consultation with districts and clubs.
Our members, clubs, projects and programs remain at the heart of what we do.
Following discussion, a vote was taken and our club voted. The result of the vote is not for publication, however, any member who was unable to be present is welcome to enquire directly with one of the board members. Over the next few weeks, all other clubs in the district are required to vote (one vote per club).

Next Wednesday, 28th September, President Mitch Brown will conduct a Club Assembly specifically dedicated to strategic planning. It is important that all members participate in this. To assist you, on 17/08/2022 Mitch sent out an email with three attachments: the current Committee List, the Rotary Strategic Planning Guide, and the Rotary Club Health Checklist. Please check these documents yourself and come to the meeting armed with ideas and, if you like, constructive criticism. (If you don't have it, or can't find it, drop me a line.)
Duty Roster - note: subject to change - please check every week. Note: Fellowship duty also is expected to be at the Project Shed on the Saturday following the meeting

A recent article in the Daily Post reported that a man has sued the local Hospital, claiming that after his wife had surgery there, she lost all interest in sex. A hospital spokesman advised: "We much regret that the journalist did not contact us for clarification prior to publication. This lady was indeed admitted - for cataract surgery. All we did was correct her eyesight."
