President's Message

Mitch Brown

Sadasya ēka ēbaṁ saba

This week the Club will induct a new member – Jake Richards – and welcome back a returning member in Evan Mita. Both Jake and Evan will no doubt make a significant contribution to the Club moving forward, hopefully in leadership roles in the not too distant future.

Another sterling effort by members at last weekend’s fund raiser at Bunnings. While not a record in terms of sales, it was still a worthwhile fundraising event. Every little bit helps. Thanks to those members involved.

See you Wednesday and enjoy your week.

Mitch Brown,
President 2022-23

This Wednesday: Elliott Cox - Surviving a Lung Transplant
This week's guest speaker, Elliott Cox, is a cousin of our Wheelchair Trust Chairman Larry Murray. He will be speaking about his journey battling cancer, the complications that went with fighting one of the world’s deadliest diseases, and how he went from being a semi-professional athlete studying a double degree of Law and International Business, to becoming the sickest person in the whole of Australia and New Zealand. He will explain his trials and tribulations and what life looks now after receiving a double lung transplant.

Also, we'll have reason to celebrate: President Mitch will induct two new members, Evan Mita and Jake Richardson.

See you there!
Are you an incoming Club Officer?
Then this is for you:

District Leadership Training.

President Elect Doug Lipp needs all incoming directors, as well as the Treasurer and Secretary to be there. Numbers must be advised by this Wednesday, 16th April, so please contact Doug directly to confirm.
BTW: You don't need to be an incoming club officer to attend - all members are welcome. You might just learn something!
It's a sell-out again!
Here is a photo, taken by Al Sirovs which, tongue in cheek, could be titled "No Flies on these Guys": From left: Ann O'Connor, Ross Augustine, Chris Thurtell and Andy Bell, photographed through the fly screen of the Bunnings Barbeque stand. Al reports that by the end of the day we again completely sold out of sausages. Well done, and a big thank you to all the helpers (in addition to those already mentioned): Mitch Brown, Geoff Croad, Gus Miller, Ashleigh Symes, Evan Mita, Paul Seymour, Doug Lipp, Charles Thomasson, Neil Thurlow.

Me: "People who sell fruit and vegetables are grocer."
[Methinks, since his retirement, he has too much time on his hands... ☺]

A successful lie cannot be brought into this world and capriciously abandoned; like any committed relationship, it must be maintained, and with far more devotion than the truth, which carries on being carelessly true without any help.  Lionel Shriver – ‘We need to talk about Kevin’

Breaking News: Scientists have today announced that they have invented a car that runs on paisley.
Their current project is a train that runs on thyme.
