Please meet John French, an Automotive Training Consultant and Assessor at the Gold Coast Trades College (GCTC) at Currumbin. For the past two years, he has dedicated his Saturday mornings to delivering a wheely bin full of empty bottles and cans at our project shed in Arundel. “I very much enjoy the company of Rotary members as well as seeing the brilliant work carried out by them” John said when I caught up with him.All staff and students at GCTC participate in environment and recycling units as part of their curriculum. Recycling is a win-win for all, as it keeps the recyclable cans and bottles out of landfill while encouraging and re-enforcing the subject we train.
In turn, the empties are then collected from our shed by Express Recycling Nerang, under the Containers for Change scheme. Express Recycling doesn’t just collect containers from our wheelchair shed, but also from multiple high-rise locations. This makes them one of our major fundraising partners.
