Charles Thomasson was at the door (for Chris Thurtell), Larry Murray was at the door (for Neil Thurlow) and Andy Bell was Sergeant (for himself ☺)

We had apologies from Gerald East, Mario Fairlie, Angus Miller, Rosie Rocco, John Chirio and Tania Laird.

President Jo Winwood welcomed all members and guests David Raby and David Orchard (both via Surfers Paradise SLSC), Ashley Symes and Tim Elliott (both guests of Charles Thomasson) and of course our Guest Speaker Trevor Hendy.

After Trevor's address to the club (see separate report), Jo reported on the previous week's social (vocational) event at Dracula's: clearly very well received by all who were there, Dracula's also donated a bunch of free tickets which we'll use as raffle prizes and donate to the Surfers Paradise SLSC to raise funds for Youth Programs. Our Melbourne Cup fundraiser at the Island Resort, in favour of 'Traction' (see separate article) could still do with a couple more people. Regrettably, Jo had to announce the resignation of Daryl Sanderson as a member (he'll still be an Associate Member, as is the case with Des La Rance). Sort of the end of an era! Daryl joined the club in 1997, the year when our Wheelchair Project truly took off! Daryl had been Chairman of the Wheelchair Trust for some 18 years now.

Chief of Fundraising, Paul Seymour is looking for somebody to run the Bike Sale on the 1st December. It's going to be a big day, not just for the bike sales but we'll also run a Bar-be-que.  Contact Paul directly.

And last, but certainly not least: Immediate Past President Andy Bell presented Al Sirovs with his well deserved Paul Harris Fellowship certificate and pin. (see picture on right, by Charles Thomasson). Al was gallivanting around the world at the time of our club's Changeover, so it was a bit overdue, but nontheless caught Al a bit off balance; he ultimately abandoned his attempt to give us a rousing speech.... ☺
