Ian Mayberry was at the door (for Al Sirovs) as well as Sergeant, Larry Murray was Chairman (for Neil Thurlow).
We had apologies from Tania Laird, Paul Seymour, Darrell Brown, Jo Gorman, Adrian Crowe, Gerald East, Al Sirovs, Bob Harrison, Clive Edwards, Col Laurensen, Chris Thurtell, Ray Higgs, Rosie McIntyre and Doug Lipp. (In part, the large number of apologies is related to our team in Samoa building the School for abused children).
President Andy Bell welcomed all members and visitors Katherine Palin-Brinkworth (RC of Surfers Paradise) and our Guest Speaker, Professor Shirley McIlvenny (see see separate report above). He advised that a Board Meeting will be held on 23rd October.
Des La Rance gave a brief status report on the Samoa Project: the project is just about completed, well ahead of schedule. He said that Al Sirovs sends a message that "it all fitted perfectly" (yes, of course it did!). Secretary Mark Twyford, freshly returned from Samoa, complimented all members involved. We are also expecting a new member, 'Charles', to be confirmed shortly. More on this later!. Furthermore, Des La Rance also requested approval to purchase a bulk load of ply board - the board members present authorized the required expenditure.
Treasurer Mitch Brown reminded us that membership fees are due now. If your payment was not in the club's bank account by last Saturday 30th September, the price goes up...
