President Jo Winwood opened the meeting, welcoming our guest speaker David King (see separate article). She outlined details relating to our support of the Booyah! project (Tony Unicomb and Sam Collins were speaking on 22nd August - see Story list - search for 'Booyah'): Our support helped to train two kids who both got jobs! Good outcome! They'll have a graduation ceremony on 26th November (next Monday) - anyone who wants to go up is most welcome! Our Christmas Breakfast will be held at the QT Hotel on 19th December - put it into your diary now. As always, partners and friends welcome.
Larry Murray, who agreed to be the brain and driving force behind the Annual Rotary Pre-Christmas Bike Sale on 8th December, urged all to come to the Project Shed on Saturday and future working bees we'll have there. A lot of work needs to be done in preparation, including tidying up and getting rid of junk to make the area presentable and a bit of a showcase for our club and Rotary in general. (See President Jo's message on the activities last Saturday, and of course this Wednesday we'll be there again).
Al Sirovs suggested that we should buy a Rotary Christmas Cake for all our volunteers at the Project Shed, which all thought to be a very good idea.
Regrettably, after David King's very interesting presentation, there was no time left for our Sergeant...
