What good is it to throw yourself in front of a steamroller out of moral principles and then be crushed flat like a sock emptied of its foot? Better to fade into the crowd, the piously praising, unctuous, hatemongering crowd. Better to hurl rocks than to have them hurled at you. Margaret Atwood, ‘The Testaments’
Gerald's post of the week:
On average, a Panda feeds for approximately 12 hours a day.
This is the same as an adult at home under quarantine. That is why we call it a 'Pandemic'.
[Editor's note: if, like the Panda, you only eat bamboo shoots, that's quite ok! ☺]
How ordinary people say it: "I can't go out because of the virus".
Instead say: "I've sworn an oath of solitude until the pestilence is purged from our lands."
That sounds more principled, valiant and heroic. They'll be looking for your sword...
