Important formal meeting this week, being a Club assembly for strategic planning purposes. The aim is for committees to set objectives for the next couple of years to guide the club's progress moving forward.
I know some committees have already done some preparatory work in that regard. For example, last week some members of the Fund Raising Committee met and affirmed their commitment to a significant fundraising opportunity with the potential to provide the club with an ongoing passive income.
That initiative, the Containers for Change recycling program, is still in its embryonic development phase, the club having established a presence in a couple of body corporate complexes. Paul Seymour, Johnny Bueti and Geoff Croad have done fantastic work in getting this initiative off the ground. Hopefully, the club can build upon this foundation, particularly given the Gold Coast has the greatest concentration of body corporate schemes in Queensland. This is the type of strategic thinking needed to power the club into the future.
This Wednesday, 28th September, President Mitch Brown will conduct a Club Assembly specifically dedicated to strategic planning. It is important that all members participate in this. To assist you, on 17/08/2022 Mitch sent out an email with three attachments: the current Committee List, the Rotary Strategic Planning Guide, and the Rotary Club Health Checklist. Please check these documents yourself and come to the meeting armed with ideas and, if you like, constructive criticism. (If you don't have it, or can't find it, drop me a line.)
For all intents and purposes, it looks like it's largely finished, but there is still some work left to do on our X-Ray Unit for Pentecost Island, Vanuatu. This photo shows our "resident builder" volunteers Roger Browne (left) and Jimmy Pearce at work on the outside trim. Al Sirovs, Des La Rance and Laurie Roberts are working on the inside - hopefully I'll get a picture in the near future too. ☺
Our hearty congratulations to our members Natasha Price and her business partner Adam Sheppard. Tash won the "Champion of Sport" section of the Gold Coast Bulletin Women of the Year awards. Picture shows Tash with at last night's celebrations.
