Simon started off with a good story about three Architects having an argument about the pleasures of sex... much to your Editor's regret, seeing that there are some faint hearted people amongst our readership, even the very word caused the firewall to pop up... ☺
President Paul Seymour greeted all members and visitors Jo Gorman (guest of President Paul Seymour), Mark Twyford (on paper still a guest, but in reality a member...), David Baguley and Dean Castell (Rotary Club of Gold Coast), Sarah Cooper and her daughter, returning YE Student from Finland, Felicity Cooper, Allan Cottrell, (RC of Mermaid Beach) and, last but not least, our own YE Student Martina Missarelli. Paul emphasised the importance of today's meeting, the purpose of which was to find new ideas for fundraising.
Treasurer Mitch Brown reminded all that, if you have not received your Tax Receipt for your (indirect) donation to The Rotary Foundation by email, you have your Clubrunner email address out of whack! [Please advise me if you didn't, and I'll look into it. Franz.]
Terry O'Shea, in charge of the Guest Speaker program, announced some top level speakers coming up over the next three weeks: On 27/1/16 we'll have Katherine O'Shea, an expert in Occupational Therapy (yes, she is Terry's daughter!), on 03/02/16 Paul Hopgood (of Hopgood Ganim Solicitors fame) on Divorce (yes, you are invited to bring your spouse along!) and on 10/02/16 Felicity Cooper will give us an overview of her year in Finland.
Wheelchair Trust Chairman Daryl Sanderson presented his usual comprehensive report on the happenings at The Shed: A call from the Rotary Club of Gladstone, Councillor Margaret Grummitt will very much be on our side to retain The Shed's lease from the City Council: Daryl also made contact with Eddie Saroff, whom we understand will stand in Margaret's Division as she is retiring. And Daryl lamented the drop in Resources values: much similar to the share price of BHP, the scrap metal value has halved over the past 12 months...
Des La Rance has landed a half page article in the Gold Coast Sun relating to the Samoa School Project.
Simon Brook has an invitation from the Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport to attend a Chinese New Year function
President Paul Seymour advised that he is finalizing the hosting details of the incoming GSE Team from Pensylvania in May.

Terry O'Shea, as a former member of the Australian Army Corps, you should know better than to question the Sergeant! Simon Brook, what's that? No skateboard today? (apparently, it is not good form to arrive at a client's appointment on a skateboard, says Simon... ☺) Doug Lipp, now just look at his face! Mitch Brown, I hate it when the Treasurer is the bearer of bad news! Gerald East may be refused to the new ride at Seaworld, due to minimum height restrictions... Chris Thurtell wants me to fine everyone who turned up with a $50.00 note this morning... But isn't it the job of the man at the door to ensure there is sufficient change? (actually not...) Paul Seymour, whilst you were up in Finland (or somewhere up there anyway), did you see that newspaper article Daryl Sanderson promised us? Larry Murray moved into a new house! We are all looking forward to our invitations to the house warming party. Apparently, Larry will supply everything... Geoff Croad, lots of fellows up in that area now! Assistant Governor David Baguley gave a brief presentation of a major multi club project his club, the Rotary Club of Gold Coast, is planning: The Gold Coast Ramble. "I am a great believer in not re-inventing the wheel", David stated. Perusing the pages of the Australian Rotary Magazine 'Rotary Down Under', he came across a project run by the Rotary Club of Mill Point in Perth WA. He contacted the club, went over to have a personal look at it and was very impressed by what he saw.
