Congratulations to all who have been involved with the ‘Samoa Project’. The final stage of the project on Australian soil is basically completed and the container nearly ready to go. Many hours of hard work has been put in be a host of Surfers Sunrise Rotary Club members. Please be aware that on the completion of the task I will be devoting a whole meeting to those who have made one of the biggest projects undertaken by the club a reality and we will honour them appropriately. I must however give advanced thanks to some members who ask for no recognition or praise but just get the job done. Our Bulletin editor and his lovely, albeit long suffering, wife Catherine are heading overseas for a well deserved holiday. I know Paris features large in their plans. Enjoy and have a great time from all of left behind to carry on.
Note: this week we are NOT meeting for breakfast, but will have a lunch time vocational visit to Substation 33, 31 Mary St, Kingston QLD 4114 (remember the speaker who demonstrated a 3D Printer made from recycled electronics components?). Partners and friends are most welcome!

Substation33 is a ‘Social Enterprise’ initiative of YFS, an electronic waste recycling facility, an innovation space and a place where people can experience work for in some cases the first time ever. On this visit, will have an opportunity to see the terrific social outcomes that this initiative generates, as well as some of the innovation that comes out of this vibrant hub.
RC Surfers Sunrise will provide food for a BBQ lunch and show our support for Tony Sharp (founder and our host) , Simon and the crew.

If yes, you must formally register NOW, so you are covered by insurance etc. Deadline is this Wednesday 24th May 2016, and you must have paid the $500.00 deposit by Friday 26th May. Speak to Rosie McIntyre (or send her an email) to get the application form. Club members have received an email over the weekend with all contact details, itinerary etc.
You don't have to be a club member to participate, but you must be registered. If you don't have Rosie's contact details: Either reply to the email which had the bulletin attached, or click on the Bulletin Editor link on the right and I'll forward it to Rosie.
Note: No meeting next week. Instead In just 10 days, on Sunday 25th June 2017, "our" incoming District Governor Darrell Brown will accept the collar from Michael Irving. The event will be held at a luncheon at Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club. This is a "once in a lifetime" festive and ceremonial event when one of our own members takes the top job in the District. A must attend for all our members and partners.

Due to Name badges still not available, all were asked to write their own “Pornstar” names on stick labels. Naming convention was name of first “pet” followed by name of street/suburb where you were born. Many interesting combinations were presented.
Reminder of the upcoming Substation 33 visit. Address 31 Mary St Kingston, Cost $20.00, 11:30am for Midday start, expecting 40 people plus club members.
Reminder of Wheelchair Project Working Bee Saturday the 3rd June, all hands on deck.

Chris Thurtell: YEP Update:
We are hosting a young person for short stay, who will present to the Club in lieu of guest speaker on 14th June. YEP Students to assist with working Bee on 3rd June.
Samoa School Project:
Mario Fairlie confirmed at this stage combination of 14 Students and Teachers have committed to going and deposited $500.00 non-refundable bond. Project is still approx. $4,000 short, hoping to make this up with donations and donations in kind in next couple of months. Suggest those from Club who wish to go complete RAWCS registration and commit to making $500.00 deposit as soon as possible.
Wheelchair Project.
Wheelchair Trust Chairman Daryl Sanderson reported that Apple Marketing through George Keily looking to launch another campaign to assist with fundraising, including the possibility of one for school project. Daryl informed club that one of the volunteers had slight accident with a fall, ambulance was called and person taken to hospital, however no major injuries suffered and volunteer is ok. Volunteers from the Youth Justice Program attended The Shed and were given “jobs” to do.
