President's Message

Welcome to the Surfers Sunrise Post.

The AGM for the club will be held this Wednesday.  Most positions have been filled but there is always a spot for anyone who wants to be an Executive or Director.

Christmas gifts for St John’s Crisis Centre can be still brought along this week as well.  The centre requires some help to wrap and sort these gifts on Wednesday after Rotary - can you help? It will be greatly appreciated.  Time range is from 8.30am to noon.

The Christmas breakfast at Skypoint is next Wednesday 20thPlease be at Skypoint by 6.45 AM so that we can all be checked off and proceed to the lift for the breakfast area. An email outlining parking etc will be sent to all who have purchased tickets.

This week will be the last "formal" meeting for 2023, so if I don’t see you before, Sue and I wish everyone a merry and safe Christmas.

Thought for the Week:  Be jolly and enjoy the Christmas cheer, as it only comes once a year.  Believe in Santa Claus, reindeers and friends, and a Christmas joy that never ends.

Doug Lipp,
President 2023-24.
Stories
This coming Wednesday 13th December: AGM
It's the time of the year when we'll have our Annual General Meeting, to formally elect the office bearers for 2024-25.

This will be followed by a club assembly to discuss the directions and goals to be achieved by our club. With the major project of the X-Ray and Blood Analysis building on Pentecost Island largely completed, this is your opportunity to participate in discussions on "what's next?"

Mario Fairlie, who is a director of the organisation, will lead you there.
Our Associate Members and volunteers' Christmas party
Last Saturday, our Associate Members and Volunteers, staged a "stop work" and closed the project shed... smileysmiley

Instead, they gathered at the Arundel Tavern for a bit of a knees-up to celebrate the festive season. Well deserved!

When: Wednesday, 20th December, 07:00 am (assemble in the Q1 car park at 06:45 am). We'll have a reserved area of the restaurant, with exclusive access until 07:30, when it will also open to the public.

Gold Coast Ramble: Can we put a team or two together?
In the inaugural event, we co-organised it with the Rotary Club of Gold Coast. Our teams, led by Simon Brook, and the following year led by Rosie McIntire, won it too! Covid put a bit of a dampener on it, but now it's again full on!

So, can you organise a team of 4 - 6 people for a day of solid fun, combined with some light fundraising? Come-on, it's only 50 bucks!

If you remove the first letter of 'empty', it's pronounced the same way. If you remove the last letter, it's still the same and even if you go on to remove the first, third and last letters, it's still MT. And if you remove all the letters, well, guess what: it's still empty.
