Lucy Cole is one of the very original Real Estate professionals of our city. She will present on the evolution of the the Gold Coast region, from a simple holiday shack community to the major city we are now.

Our newest member, Dr Elizabeth Celi, will give us an insight into her work and her passions.

Gillian Reeve, who is the current Presiden of the Rotary Club of Mermaid Beach, went to India to help dispensing the Polio Plus vaccine. Her presentation will outline the trial and tribulations of such an enormous project, and she will elaborate why the eradication of Polio is still one of the most important World Health aims. 

Our club will assist the Rotary Club of Mermaid Beach when they hold a major Youth Expo on 4th May, the first Saturday of next month.

Susan Sheehan is a professional speaker, coach and consultant. Her topic for his presentation will be 'Resilience'. She will be accompanied by Caroline Barton, her business partner of their company, SC7 International.

Bruce Howlett, who is a member of the Burleigh Heads Rotary Club, will bring us up to date on one of the most daring Rotary projects ever undertaken in Australia: Developing a vaccine against Malaria. This project, which is undertaken at the local campus of Griffith University, is funded through a number of clubs throughout Australia and New Zealand.

This year's Changeover luncheon and annual award presentations will be held somewhat early to accommodate some members who expect to be absent in the last week and early weeks of July. It will be held at the same venue as last year's: the Braeside Estate on Gooding Drive, Merrimac.  Full details to be announced shortly, including menu.  Watch this space!

Maya Rawlinson, who currently studies at QUT, will represent the Pancare Foundation, the beneficiary of a substantial donation by our club.

This is the first "formal" meeting after our Changeover, and our new President for 2024-25 will outline his vision for the upcoming Rotary year.

Our member Rock O'Keefe will present on a major project he was involved in in Bhutan, a country in the Himalayan region, east of Nepal

Our guest speakers, Kane Chisholm  (left), an Exercise Scientist, and David Adamo (right), an Exercise Physiologist, come highly recommended by our member Angus Miller. They specialise in the Science of Kieser. They will briefly touch on what they offer at Kieser that makes them unique, a typical client pathway and some of the significant benefits of strength training that positively impact your health and quality of life in the short and long term.

This is one of our premier events of the year: the presentation of the Lutzy Award. Created in  honour of our late member Keith Lutz, the award, in the form of a fully fledged surf ski, is presented to a young emerging leader personality, nominated by the Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club. Cindy Donald is the Program Manager (QLD) for the Raise Foundation. In concert with President Andy's policy of continuing our club's engagement with Youth, their mentoring program dove-tails by providing an early intervention strategy for high school students and is delivered in various high schools throughout Australia. Raise provides a fully supervised, evidence-based, one-on-one, face-to-face mentoring program for students in Year 8 who are most at risk of disengagement or poor wellbeing.
