Who will be this year's winner of the Lutzy Award? This award is in honour of our former member Keith Lutz, who was also a leading identity in the Surf Life Saving movement. It will be presented to an emerging teenage leader, nominated by the Surfers Paradise SLSC. The award is in the form of a fully-fledged Surf Ski. Graeme Isaacson has again negotiated with the caterers for a super low cost. For just $15.00 you'll get a hearty breakfast of Bacon & Eggs or a bowl of Acai. Bookings have now closed. You are most welcome to attend, but if you'd like breakfast, you'll need to order it downstairs at the bistro. (Image is from last year's presentation to Pieta Jackson) |

Are police busier on a full moon night? Acting Police Chief Superintendent Dr Geoff Sheldon did his Doctorate on whether the "crazies" come out at a full moon. He examined just shy of 1 Million calls for service for the south side of Brisbane between 2004 and 2011. OK, there is a bit more to the story... |

Vanessa Jansen is the Membership Chair of our District 9640 and also a member of the highly successful Rotary Club of Gold Coast Corporate. Her main topic will be membership development (of course), particularly corporate membership. Whilst we already have been successful in attracting corporate members ourselves, there is always something one can learn from one of the leaders in this field. |

In a past life, Damian Hussey was a Avionics Technician in the Australian Army, posted in Afghanistan, fixing helicopters. Upon return, he decided on a new career, based on just an earlier fondness of "shooting YouTube videos". Today, he has his own Film Production company (based on the Gold Coast) doing just that, and a bit more... |

Crime Stoppers doesn't need any explanation about what they are: you can report a crime, or even what you think might lead to a crime. And that's it? There is much more where this organisation can help you and your community. Keith Knight and Tracey Chase will be the two main speakers, accompanied by Julie Echin, who will bring along a device that may well prevent you, yes, your good self becoming the victim of a crime. (No Henrietta, it's not a 9mm calibre handgun!) |
